Data Centers

Where there is data, there is vulnerability, and data centers therefore constitute a risk category of their own, where extraordinary measures must be taken to prevent data loss and ensure stable operation.

We can help with that

Electricon has extensive experience in the installation of systems for lightning protection, earthing, and equipotential bonding in data centers, banks, and similar organizations.

Air terminals intercept lightning before it strikes the structure.

Lightning protection systems must ensure that direct or indirect lightning strikes cannot affect the vulnerable data installations inside the building.

Securing the roof of data halls is a task in itself. A data hall with a roof area of, for example, 25,000 m2 represents a significant risk of direct lightning strikes. This places serious demands on the dimensioning of the air-termination system and the associated down-conductor and earthing systems. This is a task that Electricon has extensive experience in carrying out.

Technical installations associated with a data center must also be protected, such as high-voltage installations and emergency power supply systems.

Here too, Electricon is the right partner, with the necessary experience in design and installation.

Banks and banking centers are also characterized by a high concentration of IT equipment. These are therefore also subject to stricter requirements when assessing the need for surge protection.

With the introduction of the standard series DS/HD 60364, equipment for protection against transient overvoltages must be used in several specific cases, for example in IT centers, museums, banks, and agriculture.

In all other cases, a risk assessment must be carried out to determine whether equipment for protection against transient overvoltages is required.

Buildings and facilities are protected with both external and internal lightning protection. External lightning protection intercepts direct lightning strikes and safely conducts them to earth outside the building and supply installations.

Internal lightning protection concerns transient overvoltages, which can occur in many ways. The most damaging effects come from lightning strikes to the building or in close proximity to it, but even a lightning strike several kilometers away can cause significant damage to sensitive electronics.

Electricon has the right equipment and extensive experience in providing safe protection for both large and small IT-intensive projects.
