With foundation earth (also called structural earth), the reinforcement in the foundation is used as the grounding connection. This requires the reinforcement to be installed with continuous electrical connectivity.
Additionally, a so-called ring earth is often used, typically consisting of a copper conductor running all the way around the base and connected to the reinforcement at several points.
